Drywall & Plaster in Charlotte

The part most painters subcontract, we do ourselves.

Drywall is a formal part of this business, not something we hand to another trade. We hang and finish new board, patch damage, and repair original plaster in Charlotte's older housing stock so the repair disappears instead of announcing itself under a raking light.

In the 1920s–40s inventory around Eastover and Myers Park, plaster is usually worth saving. We repair to match the original profile rather than boarding over it, then hand straight off to interior painting without a schedule gap in between.

How a drywall & plaster job runs

01

Assess the substrate

What's sound, what's failing, and why it failed.

02

Repair or hang

Patch, skim or board — whichever the wall actually needs.

03

Finish flat

Sanded, primed and handed to paint the same week.

What you get out of it

  • No subcontractor gapThe drywall crew and the paint crew are the same people, so nobody is waiting a fortnight for someone else's calendar.
  • Repairs that disappearA patch is only finished when it stops being visible in side light, not when it stops being visible head-on.
  • Old plaster kept, not replacedHistoric plaster has a depth and profile drywall doesn't. Where it can be saved, we save it.

Drywall & plaster questions

Do you handle old plaster, or only drywall?

Both. A good share of our work is 1920s–40s plaster in Eastover and Myers Park, repaired to match the original profile rather than boarded over. Drywall installation and repair is a formal part of the business, not a subcontract.

Can you fix a ceiling crack that keeps coming back?

Usually, but only after we work out why it moves. A crack that reopens is a structural or moisture story, and filling it again without fixing that just resets the clock.

Will the patch be visible after painting?

It shouldn't be. We check repairs under raking light before priming, because that is the light that shows a lazy patch.
