General questions
Are estimates really free?
Yes. The owner comes out, walks the job with you, and leaves you a written itemized estimate at no cost and with no obligation.
Are you insured?
Fully insured, and we send certificates before the first day on site. We're also A+ rated by the BBB, with no complaints on file.
Do you handle old plaster, or only drywall?
Both. A good share of our work is 1920s–40s plaster in Eastover and Myers Park, repaired to match the original profile rather than boarded over. Drywall installation and repair is a formal part of the business, not a subcontract.
How long does a typical interior repaint take?
A few rooms is usually two to four days. A whole-house interior in a larger home runs one to three weeks depending on trim detail and how much repair the walls need. Your estimate gives you a schedule, not a guess.
Do we need to move out?
Almost never. We work room by room, protect the floors and furniture, and clean up each evening so the house stays liveable while we're in it.
What paint do you use?
Whatever the surface calls for, and it's named in your estimate — product, sheen and number of coats. If you have a preference, we'll use it. If you don't, we'll tell you what we'd put on our own house.
When is the best time for exterior work in Charlotte?
Spring and fall are ideal. Summer is workable if we start early and stay ahead of the afternoon heat and storms. We schedule around the weather rather than pushing a coat on in bad conditions.
How soon will I hear back?
Within 24 hours. Call or text (704) 280-4264 during business hours and you'll usually reach the owner directly.
Interior Painting
How many coats do you put on?
Two finish coats as standard, over primer where the surface needs it. Colour changes and repaired areas often need more, and the estimate says exactly what we've allowed for.
Do you paint kitchen cabinets?
Yes. Doors come off, hardware comes off, everything is degreased, sanded and sprayed or brushed depending on the finish you want. It is a slower job than walls and priced separately.
Can you match an existing colour?
Usually. Bring us a chip off a closet door or the old can and we'll get it matched at the supplier before we start.

Do you replace rotten wood before painting?
Yes, and it is quoted as its own line so you can see what the repair costs separately from the paint. Painting over rot buys you one season at most.
What is elastomeric coating, and do I need it?
It is a thick, flexible film that bridges hairline cracks and moves with the surface — useful on stucco and masonry. It is not right for every house, and we'll tell you plainly if yours isn't one of them.
How long does an exterior repaint take?
A typical Charlotte house runs about one to two weeks including wash and dry time. Larger estate exteriors with long trim runs and outbuildings take longer, and the estimate gives you the schedule.
Drywall & Plaster
Do you handle old plaster, or only drywall?
Both. A good share of our work is 1920s–40s plaster in Eastover and Myers Park, repaired to match the original profile rather than boarded over. Drywall installation and repair is a formal part of the business, not a subcontract.
Can you fix a ceiling crack that keeps coming back?
Usually, but only after we work out why it moves. A crack that reopens is a structural or moisture story, and filling it again without fixing that just resets the clock.
Will the patch be visible after painting?
It shouldn't be. We check repairs under raking light before priming, because that is the light that shows a lazy patch.
Renovation & Restoration
Do you work alongside a general contractor?
Regularly. A good share of our work comes from GCs, and we build our schedule around the programme they're running rather than expecting the site to wait on us.
Can you match trim and mouldings in an older house?
The finish, yes — sheen, colour and line. For replacing a missing profile we work with the carpenter or millwork supplier so the new piece takes the finish the same way the old ones do.
What about lead paint in a pre-1978 house?
Much of the 1920s–40s stock in Eastover and Myers Park predates the 1978 ban. We'll walk you through what that means for the job before anything gets sanded, rather than after.
New Construction Painting
Do you work directly for general contractors?
Yes, and it's a significant share of the business. A veteran GC who once teased the owner for working solo now retains us regularly.
Can you hold a fixed handover date?
We quote against your programme and tell you up front if the date is unrealistic given where the site actually is. We'd rather have that conversation at quote stage than at handover.
Do you handle both the drywall finishing and the paint?
Yes. Both are in house, which is usually the reason builders call us instead of booking two trades.
Texture & Popcorn Removal
Is popcorn ceiling removal messy?
It is, which is why the room gets fully sealed first. The texture comes off wet to keep dust down, and we clean the space at the end of every day.
Does the ceiling need work after the texture comes off?
Almost always. The surface underneath was never finished to be seen, so it gets skimmed flat, sanded and primed before the finish coat.
Can you match texture on a repair instead of redoing the whole ceiling?
Usually. Knockdown and orange peel can be matched by hand into an existing field so you're not paying to redo a ceiling that is otherwise fine.
Wallpaper Removal
Can't you just paint over the wallpaper?
You can, and it usually looks acceptable for about a year until the seams and edges start lifting through the paint. We don't recommend it and we don't quote it as the standard option.
What if the wall is damaged under the paper?
It often is, particularly if the paper was hung straight onto unprimed board. Repair is quoted as its own line once we can see what's actually there.
How long does a room take?
Stripping and prepping a typical room is usually one to two days before painting starts, depending on how many layers are up there and how well the wall was prepared originally.
Specialty & Epoxy Coatings
How long before I can park on a new epoxy garage floor?
Foot traffic is usually 24 hours; vehicles need longer, typically several days depending on the system and the temperature. The estimate gives you the exact window.
Why do epoxy floors peel?
Nearly always moisture or inadequate profiling. If the slab wasn't tested and mechanically prepared, the coating never bonded properly in the first place.
Do you do commercial as well as residential?
Yes. Shops, garages and light commercial spaces are a regular part of the coatings work.
Question we haven't answered?
Call or send it over. You'll usually reach the owner directly during business hours.
